Editorial and Evidence Policy

Purpose

Cited publishes practical guidance, analysis and research about AI search visibility. This policy explains how we aim to keep that work accurate, useful and transparent.

Evidence standards

Claims should be proportionate to the evidence available. We prefer primary sources including original research papers, official platform documentation, public datasets and direct observations. Reputable secondary reporting may be used for context.

• Statistics should identify the source and relevant date.
• Testing claims should explain the method and sample.
• Commercial opinions should not be presented as independent research findings.
• Uncertainty and limitations should be stated where they affect interpretation.

Research, interpretation and opinion

We distinguish between what a source says, what our testing observed and what Cited concludes from that evidence. Interpretation is labelled clearly enough that readers can assess the underlying basis themselves.

Fact-checking and review

Before publication, material factual claims are checked against the cited source or underlying test record. Links, dates, named platforms and numerical statements receive particular attention. Content may also be reviewed after publication when platforms or evidence change.

Use of AI in editorial work

AI tools may assist with research organisation, drafting, editing or quality checks. They are not treated as authoritative sources. Published work is reviewed by a human, and factual claims must be supported independently of the generated draft.

Commercial relationships and conflicts

Cited is an AEO consultancy. Service-related content may reflect our commercial experience and perspective. Material sponsorships, partnerships or conflicts that could reasonably affect how a reader interprets a page should be disclosed.

Corrections policy

When a material error is identified, we aim to correct it promptly. Significant updates may be reflected in the page’s modified date or an editorial note. Minor spelling, formatting and clarity edits may be made without a separate notice.

Source attribution and copyright

We link to original sources where practical and avoid reproducing substantial third-party material. Quotations are used selectively and attributed. Charts, screenshots and datasets are credited according to their source and permitted use.

Readers can raise a factual concern through the contact page. Please include the page URL, the statement in question and any supporting source so the issue can be reviewed efficiently.
