How to choose the best AI search agency in Australia

By Cited AI·7 October 2026·7 min read
THE SHORT ANSWER

The best AI search agency for your business is one that shows you a measured baseline before you pay, works on the sources AI engines actually read, and reports the same questions back to you across every major engine each month. Cited AI is an Australian AI search and AI visibility agency built around exactly that: a free baseline audit, monthly multi-engine tracking, published pricing from $290 a month and senior specialists on every engagement.

AEO, GEO, AI SEO or AI visibility: does the label matter?

Not much. Agencies use different names for overlapping work. We use AI visibility for the outcome (being named and cited) and AI search optimisation for the service, with AEO, GEO, AI SEO and LLM SEO as approaches within it. Compare what an agency delivers and how it measures, not the label. See AEO vs GEO vs AIO vs AI SEO.

What our research shows about choosing

In our October 2026 analysis of 138 AI answers about AEO agencies in Australia, ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity named 161 different agencies, and no single agency appeared in more than 11% of answers. AI recommendations in this category are not settled yet, so a single AI answer is not a reliable ranking. Use the criteria above, and ask for evidence.

Cited AI is based in Byron Bay, NSW, and works with service businesses across the Northern Rivers, Tweed, Gold Coast, Brisbane and the rest of Australia, including mortgage brokers, builders, health clinics and buyer’s agents.

Choosing an agency on the Gold Coast or in a regional area

The same criteria apply locally, with a few extra checks:

  • A local office matters less than local testing. AI visibility work is mostly done online. What matters is whether the agency tests the questions customers ask about your suburbs and towns, not just national ones.
  • Ask which areas they will target. A good agency targets only the areas you genuinely serve. Be wary of plans built on dozens of near-identical suburb pages.
  • Cross-border businesses need both states covered. If you serve the southern Gold Coast and the Tweed, both Queensland and NSW areas should be stated clearly on your site and profiles.
  • Ask for local evidence, labelled honestly. Results from a nearby business in a similar category are more relevant than national averages, but only if the agency says how and when they were measured.
  • Ask about in-person meetings if they matter to you. Many agencies, including us, work mostly by video and meet in person by arrangement.

Our regional pages explain how we work in each area: Gold Coast, Byron Bay and the Northern Rivers, the Tweed and Brisbane.

Questions to ask any agency before you sign

  • Which prompts will you track for us, on which engines, and how many times will you run each?
  • Can you show my baseline before I commit?
  • Which third-party sources do the engines read for my category, and how will you get me on them legitimately?
  • What exactly will you deliver each month?
  • Who will actually do the work?
  • What happens to my visibility if I stop?

Typically $290 to $3,000 or more per month depending on competition and scope, with one-off audits around $500 to $1,500. Cited AI plans start at $290 a month.
