AI visibility and AEO services for Australian builders
Cited AI helps Australian builders, renovators and home-building companies get named, cited and accurately described when people ask ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Copilot for a builder. We test the questions your customers ask, make your build types, service areas, licences and past work clear to the engines, fix your website, profiles and listings, and report mentions, citations and recommendations every month.
What the service includes
- Baseline testing of buyer questions. A fixed prompt set built from the build types and areas you take on, run across six engines with repeated runs, recording which builders, directories and comparison sites are named.
- Build types stated clearly. Engines match builders to specific requests: custom homes, knockdown rebuilds, renovations, extensions, sloping blocks, dual occupancy. We make sure the types you genuinely build are described plainly. We don’t claim work you don’t do.
- Project pages from your gallery. Short written pages for real past projects, stating suburb, build type, scope and what made it work, so engines have evidence to read.
- Licences and memberships, stated accurately. Your state licence number and any industry association memberships shown the same way on your site, Google Business Profile and directories. Customers can check licences on public registers, so the details need to match.
- Directory and profile consistency. The builder directories, association listings and local sources the engines actually cite in your area, completed and kept consistent.
- Technical access and structured data. Search crawlers can reach your key pages, and business, service and FAQ markup matches what visitors see.
- Repeatable reporting. The same prompts every month: mentions, position in the shortlist, citations of your own pages and accuracy, by engine, build type and area.
What home buyers might ask AI
These are example questions we would include in a baseline. They reflect common build requests, not measured search volumes:
- “Best custom home builder on the Sunshine Coast”
- “Builder for a knockdown rebuild in Brisbane”
- “Who builds on sloping blocks near Byron Bay?”
- “Renovation builder in the Tweed with good reviews”
Your real prompt set is built with you, from the work and areas you actually want more of.
How an engagement works
- Audit. Run the baseline and record who is named, which sources are cited and how you are described.
- Structure. Fix build-type pages, project pages, licence details, profiles and structured data.
- Authority. Complete and align the directories, association listings and local sources the engines read; set up a review request process for finished clients.
- Monitor. Re-run the same prompts monthly and report what moved, with a change log.
What we need from you
- Your licence number(s), association memberships and the areas you build in.
- The build types you want more of, and a handful of past projects you’re happy to describe (suburb, type, scope).
- Website access (or your developer’s contact) and Google Business Profile manager access.
- Permission from past clients before naming a street or showing identifiable photos.
- A way to ask real clients for reviews. We never write or buy reviews.
Who this suits, and who it doesn’t
- Good fit: builders with a clear service area and build types, finished projects to show, and the ability to update their website and profiles.
- Less suitable: builders wanting guaranteed placements, or with no past projects or reviews to point to yet.
Evidence and limits
We don’t yet have published building-industry client results, and we don’t claim industry partnerships or endorsements. Our study of 138 AI answers included “How can a builder in Australia get recommended by ChatGPT?”, and across the study engines most often cited dedicated service pages and “best of” lists. Our first case study, a disclosed Cited Labs project in another category, shows the reporting format we use.
Do-it-yourself steps
- Build a page for each type of build you do, and name the areas you build in.
- Turn your gallery into project pages: suburb, build type, scope and what made it work.
- Show your licence number and association memberships on your site.
- Ask clients for reviews that mention the build type and suburb.
- Get listed on industry directories and local business listings with identical details.
The general method is in our guide to getting your business recommended by ChatGPT.

Frequently asked questions
Do builders really get recommended by AI?
Yes. AI engines name builders when people ask for a shortlist, particularly for a specific build type and area, such as a knockdown rebuild in Brisbane or a sloping-block build near Byron Bay. Which builders are named varies by engine and by run, which is why we measure repeatedly.
Is a photo gallery enough?
Usually not. Engines mostly read text. Short written project pages that state the suburb, build type, scope and outcome give them far more to work with than images alone.
Should I target every suburb?
No. Target the areas you genuinely build in, and name them clearly. Thin pages for suburbs you don’t serve rarely help and can mislead customers.
Do you work with builders outside the Northern Rivers and Gold Coast?
Yes. We’re based in Byron Bay, NSW, and work with builders across Australia, mostly online. The prompt set is built around the areas and build types you actually take on.
Can you guarantee AI will recommend my building business?
No. No one controls what an AI engine says. We measure your baseline, make the changes most likely to help and report what moved.
